No More Training Wheels
Dada, “I’m going to fall,” said my daughter.
I replied, “Babygirl, I won’t let you fall.”
After those words left my lips, I realized the mistake I made.
Who am I to say she won’t fall?
God is in control.
I am not.
Each trial I faced was for my good and God’s glory.
So, why am I telling my daughter the opposite?
It’s because I’m afraid of watching her fall.
By the grace of God, the righteous will fall seven times and rise again because their trust is in the Lord.
My daughter doesn’t need training wheels.
She needs me to train her to love God with all her heart, mind, and strength.
The instruction she’ll receive will provide her with the tools she needs to endure.
I won’t do this perfectly, but that’s not my aim.
Being faithful requires playing the long game.
Call on the name of the Lord, and you will be saved.
However, that does not mean you will come out unscathed.
Scars tell a remarkable story of God’s grace in our lives.
I know times are hard right now, but you will survive.
No more training wheels.
